I want to tell you who I am and how I got here

40 years of roots — in the soil and in the wild

I am a passionate horticulturist — which means an expert in garden cultivation and management — and I love every bit of it. My knowledge has been built over 40 years working hands-on in professional, commercial, and residential landscaping, landscape maintenance, greenhouse operations, and retail garden centers. For 30 of those years, I lived on a hobby horse farm where I gardened endlessly and maintained a beautiful orchard of apple, cherry, plum, and pear trees. I planted them as whips, pruned and cared for them through the seasons, and eventually harvested enough to make apple cider, jams, pies, and canned goods. My horses were just as excited about harvest time as I was! I have also ridden my horses thousands of miles through the most incredible wild wildernesses in Wisconsin and beyond. That time in nature has given me a deep love and respect for native plants and ecosystems — and a genuine passion for sharing that knowledge with anyone who will listen. Beyond gardening, I am a watercolor artist and a fabric artist. My creative eye means I can visualize the finished landscape before we ever break ground, which makes the design process exciting and intuitive. I have a positive, upbeat, and confident demeanor. I am easy to talk to, a great listener, and a patient and skilled teacher.
